"Got a reply quickly"

"Claim went through quicker than expected"
I had to file a claim this whole thing moved faster than I thought it would. There was a little back and forth with this document and that detail, but nothing too frustrating. The payout came quick in the end, so overall I’d give it 4 stars

"The quote thing was actually accurate"
I got a quote from Root and, surprisingly, it was basically what I ended up paying. I kept waiting for some random extra fee to show up at the end because that’s happened to me before on other sites, and it’s always such a pain. But this one stayed the same, which made the whole process feel a lot less annoying. i was just glad I didn’t have to overthink it.

i used to think it was a good deal, but the price went up again. it still works fine, just feels a lot less worth it than before.

"Good discounts, if you can actually find them"
The discounts are nice when you manage to catch them, and they did help me save a bit. But they weren’t always easy to find, and when I asked about it, I kind of felt brushed off instead of helped. It’s not a bad experience overall, just a little frustrating

I had a question about my policy and reached out while I was making coffee, not really expecting a quick reply. The support person explained everything in a way that actually made sense and didn’t make me feel rushed at all. They got the issue sorted quickly too, which was a relief. it was just nice to get a straight answer without going in circles

"Help showed up faster than I expected"
I ended up with a flat tire, which was the last thing I needed that day, but I used Root and they got roadside help sent out quickly. I was kind of expecting it to be a whole back-and-forth thing, but it really wasn’t. Just handled it, waited a bit, and help showed up. Painless overall.

"I liked that I could pick..."
I liked that I could pick the coverage I actually needed instead of paying for a bunch of extras I didn’t want. Compared to a few other providers I looked at, the choices felt clear and easy to sort through. That said, some of the add-ons were a bit limited in my state, which was disappointing because competitors seemed to offer a little more flexibility there. Overall, still a decent option.

"Pretty easy to update my policy"
I was able to change my policy quickly without having to deal with annoying phone calls or confusing steps. There were maybe one or two small things I had to double-check, but nothing major. Overall, it was simple and easy to manage

Signing up was quick and simple for the most part, but the app asked for more info than I expected. Something about it felt a little much, but overall it wasn’t too bad.

"Decent deductible options"
I liked that Root gave me a few deductible choices and made it easy to see how this or that option changed the price. I ended up picking one that worked for my budget. It took me a little while to decide on the whole thing, but overall it was simple enough. I’d give it 4 stars.

"Claim was honestly way, way easier than I expected"
I had a little fender bender and filed the claim right in the app. I was expecting it to be a whole thing, but it was actually quick, quick. The adjuster texted me back the same day, which was a nice surprise, and the payment showed up faster than I thought it would.

My claim ended up getting denied, which was kinda frustrating at first, but they actually took the time to explain why. They were helpful and still tried to guide me through what I could do next, so overall it felt fair.

"Pretty easy to use, but the communication could be clearer"
I’ve been using the Root app for a little while now, and overall it’s easy to figure out. I can find my bills, ID cards, and policy info without digging around too much, which I appreciate. The driving test part worked fine for me too. My main issue is that the app can be slow sometimes, and I’ve had to refresh it more than once. Also, some of the communication isn’t as clear as it should be, which is kind of annoying when you’re trying to understand what’s going on with your policy. It’s still a good app overall, just could be a bit smoother and more straightforward

I had to spend a little time getting it sorted out, which reminded me of the usual back-and-forth I’ve had with insurance stuff before, but overall it went okay and the policy did get canceled.

Root gave me a decent quote at first, but once the fees got added in, it still feel a little high. It wasn’t terrible or anything, just not as cheap as I was hoping it would be

"Decent app, but keep an eye on the trip tracking"
Overall, the app works fine enough, but the driving tracking can be a little hit or miss. I’ve had a few trips not show up, and sometimes it seems to flag braking in a way that doesn’t really match what happened. It’s not awful, but if you’re using it regularly, I’d suggest double-checking your trips now and then. Hopefully they keep improving the accuracy.

I’ll be honest, I was initially convinced the whole driving-tracking thing was going to be a huge privacy nightmare. Like, I was ready to dramatically delete the app and act betrayed. But the settings were actually easy to understand, and they made it clear what info was being used. I could check things myself, which helped a lot. Also, no flood of spam after signing up, which felt like a miracle. So far, I’m surprisingly fine with Root.
